Taja Winzeler-McDougall

Taja has been actively practicing law since 1993. With a bachelor’s degree from Bradley University and her JD from University of Illinois,  she has a passion for the law.  Her drive is the “protection of my client’s rights they in business, litigation, criminal court or purchase of their first home.”

Her experience includes 17 years with the Winnebago County Public Defender 14 of which were as a senior felony assistant. While in the Public Defender’s office she handled all manner of felony charges.  Additionally she was admitted to the Capital Litigation Trial Bar and handled multiple murder trials up to and through post conviction litigation.  Her real passion while with the office, was assisting in the running the very successful Drug Court program.  This post conviction, probation court room provided her with the satisfaction of helping clients restore their lives, families, and health.

In search of even greater challenges she entered private practice 4 years ago.  Ms. Winzeler-McDougall, has handled litigation both in Trial and Appellate Court.
